Some frequently asked questions about the impact print operations have on the environment:
Q. What happens to all the paper trimmings and waste sheets?
A. All waste paper is collected at each stage of the print process and held in secure bins for collection on a weekly basis by a reputable paper recycling company.
Q. Are your inks environmentally friendly?
A. Yes…all our inks are now made from vegetable oils and are no longer spirit based.
Q. How much of the paper you use is environmentally friendly or from sustainable sources?
A. Probably around 90% of the paper we buy now is either FSC certified or recycled.
Q. How are you reducing carbon emissions?
A. We are actively reducing our vehicle mileage wherever possible, through use of electronic media transfer, on-line proofing, better delivery vehicle planning and use of couriers.
Q. What have you done to reduce chemical use?
A. Our computer to plate system has been completely upgraded in the last 12 months so that we are now able to produce plates almost chemical free. A reduction in chemical use of around 85% has been achieved in this area.
Q. What happens to printing plates when they are finished with?
A. They are collected for recycling by a licenced contractor.
